Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear recipient of my fabulous lunch making skills, I can only assume that because of this text message. Not only am I more confident in my roast beef sammich making skills, but I know that you appreciate the effort - that's even better. Dear Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2, I start giggling like a school girl and my voice goes about eight octaves higher when I think/talk about you [or so I'm told]. I know, I may be THE biggest HP nerd ever, but I can't help it - I grew up with Harry through each book and I'm so excited to see his last quest come to life on the big screen July 15th. Whoop!  Dear Pam [checker at Walmart], I watched you chat it up with the family two turns in front of me, then with the person in front of me, then it was my turn to hear all about how your sister is naming her daughter 'Reality'. I get that you think it's an awful name, but maybe you should be giving your sister the same benefit of the doubt that I gave you. I sat and waited patiently for you to bag my groceries, and when you were finished, all I could do was smile. You obviously needed someone to talk to about this matter, I'm glad I could be of service :) Dear Bear, you are the sun to my shine, the bon to my fire, and grilled to my steak, can't wait for summer to get here so we can enjoy all of these wonderful things together, our first summer as husband and wife :) Until then, take advantage of all that X-box gaming, microphone talking, electronic male bonding in that you can, because baby, once that sun is out, we are outside. Over and out.

One of the things I want to get better at, especially approaching the summer months, is making our lunches to save money. What's something you're doing to cut costs?

PS - see the inspiration for this post and all my other Tuesday Letters - HERE!

PSS - I have been sadly neglecting "The Pollyanna Project" and my heart is taking a toll. This is me making myself accountable for looking for ONE good thing in everyone and every situation. I believe in myself.

weekend loves

not having to set an alarm

being woken up by him

rolling over [with half still sleepy eyes] to see if Bryan is awake yet

secretly creeping out of bed if he is, time to catch up on my SVU, do the laundry, and have me time

if he is, cuddling between Harley and him, and laughing about our silly dreams during our slumber

pulling the blinds open to let the day shine in, and the sunshine if I'm so lucky

making breakfast burriots, my weekend speciality

lighting candles and turning on the Scentsy to make it smell better than 'sleep'

greeting the day, at about eleven - I'm okay with that

spending time with family, making it a late night of laughing, games and contentment

taking road trips up, up, up into the mountains

picking up dirty clothes that have been strewn on the floor from the day

the weekend'ly trip to the grocery to buy groceries for the coming week

snuggling back into bed, finding the cold spot in the sheets, and ready to do it all over again

what are the things about your weekends that you love?

ps - HP7 came out this weekend - makes me excited all over again for the second part to come out in July!!! Until then:

Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear WWF Champ, that would be 'Words with Friends' champ, not 'World Wrestling Federation' champ. I'm pretty sure you're the most amazing wordmaker ever. Reason #789 being your wife is awesome. Dear Xbox, listen - you're new around these parts so let's get one thing straight...I had dibbs on him first. Dear freshly mowed grass, as much as I adore you, I think you may be causing more problems than good. I'm so ready for summer, I'll give you another chance in a couple weeks, pinky promise. Dear father of my future littles, I'm pretty sure my ovaries skipped a beat when you brought Sophie in to sleep between us on Friday evening. She woke up crying, you rushed out to the living room, scooped her up, and snuggled her safely between us like a little sophie-sandwich. I know that our littles are going to feel just as content.

Has your mister ever done anything that's ever made your ovaries skip a beat?

weekend wrap-up round four!

Good morning!
I trust you all had amazing weekends! I got to sleep in a little, hang out with these lovely ladies AND have a -
sleepover with Sophie!

I spent most of the weekend in bed, surrounded by tissues, sniffling. Needless to say, I'm sicky. However, Friday evening was the highlight of my weekend. I got to pick up Sophia for an evening of Auntie/Niecey fun :)

1. If you can't see, she was picking dandlions for me. How did she ever know they are my favorite?! ;)
2. The our shoes - wouldn't it be fabulous if you didn't have to grow up and just wear princess high heels forever? She walked through 711 and Walmart clicking those little suckers like there was no tomorrow!
3. In the car singing 'Baby Beluga' and telling me about what letter she learned on Friday at school. It was 'W' by the way, then we proceeded to talk about words that started with 'W' - white, wiggle, waffle, etc.
4. All snuggled up, full of yummy pizza and juice, watching 'The Legend of the Guardians' - which by the way, is kinda scary for little kids!

I loved every minute I got to spend with her
can't wait to tell you my favorite part in tomorrow's Tuesday Letter :)

The Holiday says...

Olivia: We never have grownups here that are girls.

Sophie: I know.

Olivia: I really like it.

Sophie: Me too

One of my most favorite movies, and one of the most fantastic forts! :)

Happy Wednesday friends!

Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Sicky, it is on a very rare occasion that you get sick and I don't. Here is to a few of grilled cheese/tomato soup eating, gatorade drinking, Price is Right watching days of you resting up and getting better. Dear Rob Dyrdek, to put it lightly, my husband loves you and may have a slight mancrush on you. Not because you have this ridiculously cool factory where you do freakin awesome things, not because your filthy rich and spend it however you please, but because he thinks you would be a genuinely 'cool dude' and friend. Dear anxiety, you've been quite under control lately which is particularly out of character for you, however I'm not complaining, I'm thankful. Dear Snuffleupagus [that nickname may stick] I love you more than Rob loves Big Black, Paula Dean loves butter, and the entire cast of 'The Hills' love drama - I'm pretty sure you should be feeling a LOT of love right now.

Does your husband have a mancrush? bromance? [Bryan's gonna hate me for saying that LOL]  basically a celebrity that he wishes he knew?

PS - See the inspiration for this post - I love the Loerke's

Happy Tuesday friends!

Javier Bardem says...

[well technically Elizabeth Gilbert says:]

Liz Gilbert [Julia Roberts]:
I'm sick of people telling me that I need a man.

Felipe [Javier Bardem]:
You don't need a man, Liz. You need a champion.

Isn't that the truth, doesn't every woman want a man that is a champion?
I read this book at the beginning of last year and enjoyed it. But to be completely honest, I feel like I may have enjoyed the movie even more - or maybe it was because I fell in love with Javier and Julia's chemistry :)

Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear my love, on Saturday you downloaded 'Words with Friends' on my iPhone. I argued and said I wasn't good at word games, but I'm pretty proud of myself - I've kept up with you pretty good so far! Dear Grey's Anatomy music event, Shonda Rhimes, you are combing two of my FAVORITE things ever - Grey's and musicals. Bless you. Dear summer, you couldn't come fast enough. Seattle got teased on Friday with a little peek of sunshine - it was glorious. It made me even MORE excited to bask in your wonderfulness. Is that a word...? Dear Bryan James, this past weekend we talked about our future kids again. I told you I dream of what they will look like and I can't wait to feel a baby kick in my belly. I'm pretty sure positive that you are going to be such an amazing dad. Reason #345 I'm so thankful to be your wife.

Does anyone else play words with friends? Are you addicted like we are? It's a little ridiculous but totally helps build my vocabulary :)

PS - Bryan, I really really love you. Like really. Thank you for being so wonderful and making me feel like a million bucks on a daily basis.

engaged!

[sidenote: these little babies popped up yesterday in our yard - they make me happy]

Ok,
so there I was,
watching American Idol last night
when all of the sudden a commercial came on FOX [see here]
You guys, I literally started crying!

So, in honor of this fabulous new/tear jerking for some - show AND today being mine and Bryan's Happy 8 Months being married I just wanted to reminisce a little about MY engagement and how absolutely perfect it was :)

Today I'm thankful for the thought and effort my husband put into 'engaging' me :)

Please click here to read our story!
[I wrote this back in October when I first started my blog :)]

PS - Please also check out my new project - here.

Happy Thursday ladies! The weekend is upon us! :)

Dr. Seuss says...

This post [is a little lengthy] and was inspired by a chat Bryan and I had last night. It completely astounds me that a man as put together and amazing as this person I will share the rest of my life with, still has doubts as to what direction his life is heading in.
So this is me [Or Dr. Seuss saying] I can't even begin to fathom the places you will go my dear husband. I believe in you, I have faith in you, and I am behind you 100% of the way. I'm lucky I'll get to witness all of the great things you'll do with your life and other's lives you will bless.
You.are.terrific.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town.
It’s opener there in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew. Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!
You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.
You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don’t.
Because, sometimes, you won’t.

I’m sorry to say so but, sadly,
it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on.
You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And if you go in, should you turn left or right…or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

No! That’s not for you!
Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t. Because, sometimes, they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go though the weather be foul. On you will go though your enemies prowl. On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl. Onward up many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak. On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

These Hands

We said these words during the vows at our wedding. It replace the 'sand ceremony' and the 'unity candle'. I can't help but look back and remember how beautiful that day was and these words still are ♥
Happy Wednesday my friends!
[Don't forget to click here if you misses the guest blogging opportunity here at TFE]

Hands Ceremony

Lovers please face each other and take each others hands, so that you may see the gift that they are to you.

These are the hands of your best friend, full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief temporarily comes your way.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.

These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams.

These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times.

These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into eyes that are filled with overwhelming love for you.

And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch of your hands...

Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear husband, this weekend you sang FOUR songs at karaoke. I don't know what I loved more, your sweet moves, your smooooth voice, or the fact that you were brave enough to do that. And the crowd loved you, they really loved you. Dear Grandma's onion mashed potatoes, thank you ever so much for filling our home with your heavenly smell of potato-ey, cheesey, yummy goodness. Mmmmm. Dear Secret Millionaire, I spent the last fifteen minutes of the show with tears streaming down my face because my heart felt so touched. What a better place this world would be if there were more 'Secret Millionaires' willing to share their millions with the less fortunate. Dear love of my life, you worked your patootie off this weekend at home on our shower and on-call in someone else's. Can I just tell you that I love you and respect you so much for providing for us and also not complaining when you get a call at 7:30am on a Sunday for a service call. I mean really, you deserve a medal, or a cookie, or maybe a cuddle.

Does anyone else karaoke with the best of 'em like my husband? If so, holy cow, I'm impressed! :)

PS - Please see the inspiration for this post here - Tim and Em get five leg kicks and ten fist pumps for being so great!

Johnny Cash says...

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

Today's Letters Inspired Tuesday

Today's Letters: Dear sweet husband, this weekend you bowled in your first bowling tournament and it happened to be at Hooters. I thought I was in for a day full of busty women and rowdy bowling crowds. Instead I got to watch you work through your frustrations and end the first part of your brackets with pride. I know you weren't as happy as you could've been with your results, but you're still my favorite bowler [please see below]. Dear Best Ever Beef Brisket, at some point in the next couple weeks, I will conquer you. It makes my mouth water just thinking about you! Maybe it's because I've been feasting my eyes on too many episodes of Man vs. Food Carnivore Chronicles... Dear Hot Mama Handbags, I'm not yet a mama but I've had my eye on you for a looooong time. Seriously, this gal has a gift and I'm a tid bit jealous. Dear Bryan James (who always get's two letters)  thanks for letting me sleep a little extra on Saturday morning. I know when you wake up you just want to go, go, go but my eyes were not ready to be fully awake. I crawled into your side of the bed and it was nice and toasty. Reason #567 boy roommates are awesome!

Any Etsy items you've been spying on with your little eye lately?
PS - please see the inspiration for this post HERE - love this couple! & their letters!

Picture circa 2006 - my shirt says "Bryan's my favorite bowler"
still is true today :)

Stripped

Do you ever just feel like stripping?

Whoa, before you take it the wrong way, I mean stripping off the make up, the trying-to-be-cute clothes, the hair products - the fake you?

I've worn some kind of make-up every day since I was in middle school, it makes me feel pretty. It hides my flaws and blemishes. It makes my eyelashes longer and darker. Don't get me wrong I love cosmetics, but essentially, it makes me a different person.

I'm not exactly sure what I wanted to accomplish out of this post, but just to assure you, that you are beautiful underneath it all.

There once was a time when I didn't leave the house without make up on, but I've become more and more ok with it. Not to mention it's better for my skin to give it a break every once in a while.

Here's my challenge.
Post a picture of the 'done up' you and the 'stripped down' you.
Be comfortable in your own skin.
Feel beautiful from the inside out.
Love you.
If you accept this challenge I would love to see/hear about it.
Will you leave your link below?
You all inspire me daily and I admire your bravery :)
(I tried to make a button for this challenge but couldn't figure it out so please leave your link below if you do want to participate :)

Thankful...Friday a little late

However, late is better than never, right? :)
Last week I gave it dedicated an entire post to my Harley kitty - a little crazy-cat-lady, I know. But I sure do love that little fur ball.

66. Kisses from my husband - I love those lips!
[taken last April on Alki at sunset <3]

67. My mom - I really don't say it enough. Seriously, this woman is amazing. I love her more than coke slurpees [and if you know me, you know that's a lot] She drove kinda far out of her way on Monday to bring me Gatorade, pedialyte, and kitty litter, for Harley of course but I couldn't make it to the store to get it myself. She stayed for a minute said she loved me then turned around and drove right back home. I'm seriously spoiled, however, I want to make sure I NEVER take her for granted. I love you mom!

68. The Oscars - Growing up in my house, Oscar night meant something special. It meant Dad made a fancy dinner that night, and my mom and I sat in the living room huddled on the couch ooh-ing and ahh-ing about the glamorous dresses and handsome suits. We love movies, therefore we love the actors. Hopefully this Sunday I can be sitting in my parent's living room doing that very same thing :)

69. Best friends - This past weekend I was able to spend an entire weekend with this little cutie. I'm so blessed to have such lasting and amazing friendships. We took an adventure to the other side of the lake we live on, enjoyed a bonfire, ate a TON and laughed a LOT :) Best kind of weekend with my best friend. Can't get much better.

and last but not least

70. This little stud muffin aka the next AMERICAN IDOL - CONGRATULATIONS Stefano! You are making all of us so proud! You better believe you'll have most of King County voting for you! You are living the dream and it started in our home town! Get it! :)

What are YOU thankful for this week?

What are your weekend plans? I get to spend a lot of time at Hooters... yeah, more on that on Monday. Until then, I hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend! Soak up some sun [if ya got it in your neck of the woods!]

Mama Cass says...

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

PS - Check back later for my "Let's talk about it" post of the week - See last week's here AND a really yummy recipe for Mexican-restaurant-like Spanish rice :) Yum.

the way I see it

The way I see it
there's no other place I'd rather be recuperating than at home surrounded by a couple of my favorite things.

Hope you all are having a great evening and are surrounded by things you love.
And maybe watching Glee in a half hour if you're a Gleek like us :)
