The Holiday says...

Olivia: We never have grownups here that are girls.

Sophie: I know.

Olivia: I really like it.

Sophie: Me too

One of my most favorite movies, and one of the most fantastic forts! :)

Happy Wednesday friends!

Javier Bardem says...

[well technically Elizabeth Gilbert says:]

Liz Gilbert [Julia Roberts]:
I'm sick of people telling me that I need a man.

Felipe [Javier Bardem]:
You don't need a man, Liz. You need a champion.

Isn't that the truth, doesn't every woman want a man that is a champion?
I read this book at the beginning of last year and enjoyed it. But to be completely honest, I feel like I may have enjoyed the movie even more - or maybe it was because I fell in love with Javier and Julia's chemistry :)

Dr. Seuss says...

This post [is a little lengthy] and was inspired by a chat Bryan and I had last night. It completely astounds me that a man as put together and amazing as this person I will share the rest of my life with, still has doubts as to what direction his life is heading in.
So this is me [Or Dr. Seuss saying] I can't even begin to fathom the places you will go my dear husband. I believe in you, I have faith in you, and I am behind you 100% of the way. I'm lucky I'll get to witness all of the great things you'll do with your life and other's lives you will bless.
You.are.terrific.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town.
It’s opener there in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew. Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!
You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.
You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don’t.
Because, sometimes, you won’t.

I’m sorry to say so but, sadly,
it’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you.

You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on.
You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And if you go in, should you turn left or right…or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

No! That’s not for you!
Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t. Because, sometimes, they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go though the weather be foul. On you will go though your enemies prowl. On you will go though the Hakken-Kraks howl. Onward up many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak. On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!

The Orleans say & random ramblings...

[July 2010]

We've been together since way back when
Sometimes I never want to see you again
But I want you to know, after all these years
You're still the one I want whisperin' in my ear

You're still the one I want to talk to in bed
Still the one that turns my head
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

I looked at your face every day
But I never saw it 'til I went away
When winter came, I just wanted to go
Deep in the desert, I longed for the snow

You're still the one that makes me laugh
Still the one that's my better half
We're still having fun, and you're still the one

A couple of random Wednesday thoughts:
-I rarely watch the Bachelor and decided last night was a good night to catch up on it, I was wrong, that was the most awkward 'After the Rose Ceremony' ever!
-I think I'm headed to Michael's on my lunch break to get materials to make this
-my co-workers just realized I have huge feet. I mean, I wear a size 10 most of the time, I might as well be from the Amazon
-I hope Bryan liked today's Tuesday Letter
-I haven't been sleeping very well the last two nights and I'm exhausted. Thank you Lord for coffee...
-I just realized I typed 'random Wednesday thoughts'.....It's Tuesday.
That's how tired I am. Oh dear.

Johnny Cash says...

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

PS - If you missed yesterday's challenge, please see it here - I feel it's already been rewarding :)

Mama Cass says...

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

PS - Check back later for my "Let's talk about it" post of the week - See last week's here AND a really yummy recipe for Mexican-restaurant-like Spanish rice :) Yum.

Anothony Hopkins says...

"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived."

From the movie 'Meet Joe Black' Anthony Hopkin's character William Parrish

PS - I'm thinking about starting a new blog topic, I want to call it "Let's talk about it" things that we are all thinking but rarely talk about or say. Kind of like my pap smear post this morning, they may be things that I find awkward to talk about or things that aren't PC... either way, I'm trying to be more real and honest - first and foremost with myself, and with others. What are some topics that make you nervous or are awkward for you to talk about, if any?

Hall and Oates say...

What I want, you've got
And it might be hard to handle
But like the flame that burns the candle
The candle feeds the flame

What I've got's full stock of thoughts
and dreams that scatter
You pull them all together
And how, I can't explain

But you make my dreams come true ♥

On a night when bad dreams become a screamer
When they're messin' with the dreamer
I can laugh it in the face
Twist and shout my way out

And wrap yourself around me
'Cause I ain't the way that you found me
I'll never be the same

'Cause You make my dreams come true ♥

Last post of the day, I promise.
Hope your Love Day is just as fabulous as you are!

Lady Antebellum says...

"I run from hate, I run from prejudice
I run from pessimists
, but I run too lateI run my life or is it running me, run from my past
I run too fast or too slow it seems

When lies become the truth
That's when I run to you
This world keeps spinning faster
Into a new disaster so I run to you, I run to you babyWhen it all starts coming undone
Baby, you're the only one I run to, I run to you

We run on fumes, your life and mine
Like the sands of time slippin' right on through
And our love's the only truth
That's why I run to you"

Hope you all are having a happy afternoon...

Kenny Loggins says & Happy Friday

"Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup, drink it up,
Love her and she'll bring you luck.
And if you find she helps your mind, buddy, take her home,
Don't you live alone, try to earn what lovers own.

And even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with ya honey,
And everything will bring a chain of love.
And in the morning when I rise, you bring a tear of joy to my eyes,
And tell me everything is gonna be alright. "

Hugh Grant says

via google images

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around."

Olive Penderghast says

funny love quote :)

"Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."

PS - If you feel so inclined, my sweet friend Jaimie from Legos in my Pocket got me in the nominations for Blog of the Month over at For the Love of Blogs - if you have a minute click here and vote for me :)

Katy Perry says

 "You think I'm pretty
Without any makeup on
You think I'm funny when I tell the
Punch line wrong
I know you get me
So I let my walls come down, down

Before you met me I was alright
But things were kinda heavy
You brought me to life,
Now every February
You'll be my Valentine, Valentine"

ps - one more week to enter my giveaway :)

Novalee Nation says

"You tell them that our lives can change with every breath we take... and tell 'em to hold on like hell to what they've got: each other. You tell them we've all got meanness in us, but we've got goodness too. And the only thing worth living for is the good. And that's why we've got to make sure we pass it on."

ps - don't foget to enter my giveaway! celebrate being a girl :)

Dionne Warwick and The Spinners say

[Bryan and Amanda circa 2005]

"Now that I have found ya, how did I live without ya
It's plain to see you're all I need to satisfy me
I'm so darned proud of ya, I wanna sing about ya
All I know, ya made love grow by touchin' my hand
Oh-uh-oh I never knew love before
Then came you, then came you, ooh
I never knew love before
Then came you (ooh-ooh-ooh), then came you
Hey, hey, hey, then came you"

Even through our ups and downs, I love you with all my heart.

Juno's dad says - PS...

via here

"Look, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass. That's the kind of person that's worth sticking with."

PS - My blog turns 100 posts old today, Happy Birthday blog! That's either super exciting or just more proof that I talk too much... I'll let you be the judge! :)

Happy weekend everyone! What are you excited for this weekend?
Me:

The O'Jay's say

"People all over the world
join hands
start a love train, a love train "

Monday, January 10, 2011

Noah Calhoun says

Noah: Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
Allie: So what?
Noah: So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day.

both imagaes via google

A true forever kind of love, even though this is just a movie, I'm sure there are real life love stories as amazing and tear-jerking as this one.....swoon...

Carrie Bradshaw says

via google image search

Does anyone else LOVE Sex and the City as much as I do? I only just discovered it at the beginning of the summer, after watching the first movie at my girlfriend Kelsy's house - I fell in love. Soon after I obtained all the seasons, watched them all and will now swoon over them forever!

I was feeling a little lovey and wanted to share one of my favorite Carrie-isms :)
Does it make your heart happy like it does mine?

“Some people are settling down,
some people are settling
and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.”

Ahhh yes, makes me smile just thinking about it...
Happy Sunday everyone - soak up the last couple hours :)
